New Horizon made their first trip to Ina for a state tournament and made the most of it dominating from the opening tip in beating Pope County 41-17. It sets up a Mt Vernon/Centralia taste in the quarterfinals Monday when the Crusaders take on Mt Vernon feeder school Summersville after their win over Coulterville 74-41. The teams have played 3 times already this season, with New Horizion holding a 2-1 edge.
The Selmaville Rockets season came to an end at the SIJHSAA State Class S Tournament on Saturday falling to Jasper 50-38. The Rockets were led by Kasen Harris with 11, Rafe James added 10 and Lucas Howe 9.
Jasper advances to take on Albers on Monday in the quarterfinals after their win over Crab Orchard 43-15.
