Helen Sawyer, age 96 of Kell passed away Wednesday 5, 2021 in Mt. Vernon. Helen and Beachy lived for many years on the farm near Kell. Helen was a farm wife helping with many of the farm chores besides being a wife and mom. She was a member of the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. In later years Helen lived most of her life in Centralia. She will be remembered as a loving wife , mother, and grandmother.
Funeral services for Helen Sawyer will be held 11 A.M. Saturday at the L. R. Osborn & Son Funeral Home in Kell with Pastor Lee Redfern Officiating. Visitation will be Saturday at 10 A. M. until the funeral hour. Burial will follow at Bell Cemetery.
Helen is survived by her daughter, Janet Austin and husband Elmer of Salem and by her son, Ronald Sawyer and wife Charlene of Benton and by 5 grandchildren: Brian Austin, Angela Smith, Chris Sawyer, Chad Sawyer, and Stephanie Sawyer. She is also survived by 8 great grand children.
She was born August 13, 1924 near Kell, Il., the daughter of Charles W. White and Ethel Wethington White. She married Beachy Sawyer April 8, 1944 in Salem and he preceded her in death. Besides her husband, Beachy, Helen was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter: Karen Elaine Sawyer; one son Michael Stephen Sawyer; and an infant son: Richard Sawyer. She is also preceded by sisters: Lucy Schultz, Nelda Box, Nora Habben , Esther Tucker; and Brothers: Clarence White, and Luther White.
