A Salem man was trapped in his pickup truck after his carport collapsed on top of it during the noon hour on Monday.
Salem Fire Protection District Assistant Chief Bill Fulton says Victor Tulauskas of 424 South Lincoln had knocked out one of the posts of the carport when backing up. When he pulled forward, the entire carport fell on top of his truck trapping him inside.
Firemen had to cut one of the posts on his truck to be able to free him. Tulauskas used a motorized wheel chair and was assisted back inside his home. He did not sustain any serious injuries.
The incident was first reported to the fire department at 12:13 Monday afternoon.
