Nine Salem Wrestling Wildcats will be headed to Sectionals after qualifying from the Wood River Regionals on Saturday. This is a huge accomplishment for a squad still truly in their infancy as a program and just now coming into their own. Rylan Moore was regional champion at 126 pounds beating Jaxon Lynn of Althoff in the finals. Finishing 3rd for the Salem Wildcats were Kam Rasul (120), Isaiah Findley (138), Killian Merrill (165), Kyler King (175). And qualifying with 4th place finishes were Joseph Oswalt (132), Kade Orrell (150), Preston Camp (157), Caeden Miraglia (215).
The Mt Vernon Rams will send 8 wrestlers to Sectionals while the Orphans will send 2 after competing at Carbondale. For Mt Vernon, Dalton St Angelo was the regional champion at 120 pounds. Kyler Reisner (132) and Gavin Pedigo (144) were 2nd. 3rd place finishes came from Declan Stewart (106), Jack Clark (126). 4th place qualifiers were Ernest Dunklin (113), Caleb Hicks (138) Michael Goodwin (150).
For the Orphans, Luke Monoghan was 4th at 190 and Bradley Starr was 3rd at 285 pounds.
