A tire blowout is believed to have started a fire that destroyed a semi trailer and part of the attached cab on I-57 at the Ina exit Thursday night.
Jefferson Fire Officials say the trailer was loaded with chicken, which did not spill.
The driver apparently tried to put out the fire with his fire extinguisher after pulling to the side of the highway, but was unsuccessful.
The fire call came in at 9:18 Thursday night. Traffic was rerouted to Route 37 until early Friday morning.
