The body of a 23-year-old Clinton County man who apparently drowned when falling through the ice of a pond near New Baden has been recovered.
Luke Kitterman of New Memphis was reportedly hunting with five others when he went onto the pond to try and rescue his dog. He reportedly got trapped under the ice.
Multiple agencies were involved in first a rescue attempt late Monday and then a body recovery effort on Tuesday.
Kitterman was pronounced dead on the scene by the St. Clair County’s Coroner’s office after his body was recovered.
