Centralia City Firemen were handling two fires at the same time Wednesday afternoon with both of the accessory buildings destroyed along with a vehicle in one of the fires.

Firemen report the first call was to property owned by Daniel Miranda at 427 South Lincoln.  An enclosed 20 by 20 foot building with an attached carport was destroyed along with a newer SUV parked outside.  The building was fully involved upon their arrival.  The fire appears to have started from a neighbor’s burn barrel and spread on the dry vegetation to the outbuilding.  The fire was 20 feet away from Miranda’s house which was never endangered.   The fire call came in at 12:30 Wednesday afternoon.

About 20 minutes into the fire, an alarm sounded for another outbuilding fire on the Alan Pitchford property at Three Bonanza Drive.  Firemen report a small grass fire apparently spread to the two 10 by 12 foot sheds that shared the same roof.  The fire burned from the floor up and destroyed both buildings and the contents.  Lawn mowers and decorations were among the items lost.   All available Centralia city firemen were called in and the Centralia Fire Protection District called for mutual aid.

Firemen were on the scene of the first fire for about an hour and the second fire for two hours.  There were injuries reported in either fire.
