A 33-year-old Kinmundy man has been sentenced to a total of 13 years in prison after earlier pleading guilty to indecent solicitation of a child, aggravated criminal sexual abuse and grooming.  Daniel Belfiore originally faced eight counts of sexual misconduct involving the same teenage girl who was described by police at the time of his arrest as a family friend.

Belfiore was sentenced to five years in prison on both the indecent solicitation of a child and aggravated criminal sexual abuse charges and three years on a grooming charge.  Judge Mark Stedelin ordered all the sentences to be served consecutively, adding up to the 13 years.

Belfiore gave a statement in allocution and the victim and her father both provided victim impact statements.

At the earlier plea hearing, five other counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse were dropped.

Salem Police and Marion County Sheriff’s Deputies both worked on the case as some of acts allegedly occurred in Belfiore’s home in Kinmundy and at the victim’s home in Salem.
