The Salem Wildcats prepare for tomorrow’s road trip to Charleston after playing very well Saturday in a home win over Vandalia 68-45. The Wildcats got a balanced scoring attack and played good defensively. Kaeden Bevolo led the Wildcats with 18 points and 4 rebounds, 3 of them offensive. Avery Gullion was solid with 15, Ryegan Warren added 12. Salem also got 8 points from Logan Butts and Payton Gullion. Casey led Vandalia with 20. Salem improved to 10-8 on the season and after tomorrow will have a big conference game at home with Breese Central on Friday.

 

The Salem freshmen are in action tonight at home against Benton.

 

Sandoval will host Zeigler/Royalton tonight. Patoka/Odin hosts Dieterich.


Weekend Recap:

 

Centralia kept rolling with a 53-46 win at Mascoutah.

 

Also over the weekend, Altamont knocked off top-ranked Woodlawn handing them their 2nd straight loss 53-42. Pinckneyville lost to Carterville 72-64, Christ Our Rock lost to Cumberland 76-39, Marion bounced back from their overtime loss to Mt Vernon to beat Robinson 77-57, Mater Dei 61-59 over Carbondale, Mt Vernon nipped Murphysboro 46-45, Nashville routed Carlyle 65-29.

 

Saturday they made up the championship game of the Cumberland Thanksgiving Tournament that was cancelled due to snow earlier and North Clay won the title over Casey Westfield 49-39.


Highland Shootout Results:

 

At the Highland Shootout, Waltonville improved to 15-2 with a 61-49 win over Highland. Gage Peterson was great with 20 points, 10 rebounds, 6 assists and 3 steals.

 

Also, East St Louis lost to Principia 88-54, Inglewood, California in the night cap beat Webster Groves 77-76. Chaminade over Logan Rogersville 62-57, Warren Township beat Vashon 82-61 and Fishers over Cardinal Ritter 61-37.
