An Illinois Department of Transportation tractor that was cutting brush along I-57 at southbound mile marker 118 two miles north of the Salem exit was destroyed by fire Wednesday afternoon.
The Salem Fire Protection District reported the tractor was fully engulfed in flames upon their arrival. A brush cutter being pulled by the tractor also received damage.
The fire call came in at three Wednesday afternoon.
