Both drivers were injured in a crash at West Main and Delmar Avenue in Salem late Monday afternoon.
Salem Police say a car driven by 38-year-old Kristen Gibbs of Coles Stock Lane in Centralia was blinded by the sun when she made a left hand turn from Delmar to West Main and didn’t see the oncoming vehicle on Main Street in time to stop. The driver of the eastbound car on West Main was 37-year-old Melissa Schilling of South Fair Road in Brownstown.
Schilling was trapped in her vehicle until she was extricated by the Salem Fire Protection District. She was transported to Salem Township Hospital by United Medical Response.
Gibbs later went to the hospital on her own. She was ticketed for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.
The crash occurred at 4:10 pm.
