The Executive Assistant to the President and Board of Trustees and 30 year employee of Kaskaskia College has been named the 2021 Distinguished Service Award winner. Cathy Quick was surprised when the award was announced at Monday night’s special board meeting to reorganize following April’s election. She was presented with flowers by her co-workers following the announcement. Quick will officially be presented the award at the Friday night, May 14th, graduation.

In the reorganization portion of the meeting, new board member Jeffrey Brown was seated along with returning members Laura Wedekemper, Louis Kalert and Jim Beasley.

Board Chair Bill Hawley was re-elected chairman. He says they are always striving towards the evolution and modernization of the college as they push to make Kaskaskia College the best it can be.

“We never know when a factory is going to shut down or if someone is going to close or we have to change gears.  So more progress and we will continue to be one of the best junior colleges in the state of Illinois.”

The board also approved a resolution honoring appointed board member James Mason for his service. He did not run for election in April.
