The Salem Wildcats historic soccer season came to an end on Saturday as they lost to Rochester in the 1a regional finals 4-0. Salem’s season ends with the most wins in school history at 19, the first undefeated home record in program history as well as the first #1 post season seed the school ever received. The Cats will lose 10 seniors off the squad.
Also in 1a regional finals, Massac County beat Murphysboro 1-0 and Effingham knocked off Staunton 4-0.
In 2a regional finals, Althoff shutout Carbondale 6-0, Triad over Highland 2-1 and Waterloo nipped Mascoutah 2-1.
