The Wildcats got nearly 300 yards rushing from Trey Clark on 37 carries as they finished off the football season with a 32-23 win at Trojan Hill in Charleston to finish the season 3-6.  Charleston got on the board first on their opening drive before the Cats defense would start the turnover carrousel.  Salem would turn the Trojans over 6 times including fumble recoveries from Keistyn Hughes, Caeden Miraglia and Troy Keele as well as interceptions from Keele, Angel Salgado and Caylan Patterson.  Trey Clark was the work horse once again as the junior tailback finished his great season with 12 touchdowns and over 1300 yards.  Salem also got a rushing touchdown from Zane Barthelemy as well as Patterson’s 28-yard td reception, his first of his career.  Salem also got a 25-yard field goal from Caleb Purintun who also induced a turnover on a kickoff.  Kaeden Bevolo was 7-of-16 for 155 yards and a td pass.  The highlight for the Trojans was at the end of the game when senior kicker Max Weber drilled a 47 yards field goal in the game’s final minute to wow the crowd on senior night in Charleston.

Will Stanton and Mike Brown scored rushing touchdowns and Archie Goewey found Kenny Bratton for his touchdown reception as Centralia finished the regular season with a 21-16 win on Senior Night at Evers Field over Effingham.  The win keeps the Hearts from the playoffs as they finish the season 4-5.  Centralia improves to 7-2 as they will wait to see where and when they will play next week in the opening round of the playoffs.  The Orphans honored 12 players and 6 cheerleaders before the game.

Also last night, Benton finished the year 9-0 after beating Harrisburg 42-7, in the win running back Riley Spencer rushed for over 2000 yards this season.  Joining him in that club is Mt Vernon’s JaShawn Staples to accomplish the feat in the Rams season ending loss to Unity 55-37.

Christopher/Zeigler/Royalton is playoff eligible for the first time in 17 years finishing 5-4 with a 50-25 win over Edwards County.  The Bearcats were 0-9 a year ago as Coach Mike Rude returned to his alma mater this year.

Let’s hear it for Wood River.  Yes they lost last night to finish the season 0-9 and are winless for nearly 8 seasons, but they Oilers scored their first points of the season last night in a 69-24 loss to Dupo.

Flora is 8-1 for the first time since 1973, that’s 52 years, as they beat Red Hill last night 29-6.
