Russell 12th After 1st Round at IHSA State Golf

Mt Carmel is the top team after Day 1, 13 strokes ahead of Quincy Notre Dame with Breese Central 3^rd, St Anthony 4 and Mater Dei 5.

Individually, Salem’s Mya Russell advanced to today’s finals with a 9-over and sits tied for 12^th.  Maya Kampwerth of Breese Central shot 6-over and is tied for 8^th with teammate Lucah Lyons tied for 11^th at 8-over.  Carlyle’s Ava Meyer also will play today as she is in 19^th and teammate Abby Steinkamp is 62^nd and will also play today.  Centralia’s Olivia Johnson shot +22 to finish her high school career.

Wheaton Academy leads the 2a boys team competition, 3 shots ahead of Washington and 5 ahead of Normal University.  St Anthyon is 7^th, Highland 9.  Olney’s Reese Glover shot 6 over and is 32^nd, Mt Vernon’s Xander Ashby will play today after shooting +7 and is tied for 37^th.

TTown leads the 1a boys leaderboard 4 shots ahead of Harvest Christian Academy.  Pana is 10^th and Red Bud 12^th.
