The Salem Wildcats trailed 2-0 at Newton when the halftime buzzer sounds, the Cats comeback was strong in the second half but at the end, Newton held on to a 4-3 win in a game that could be a preview of a sectional matchup.
Salem tied the game at 2 midway through the 2nd half when Caleb Purintun would score back to back goals. After Newton made it 4-2 in the final 10 minutes, Salem would get an Eli Baker goal to make it 4-3.
The Cats appeared to tie it with a goal in the final 2 minutes, but a very late offsides flag came up after the Cats were celebrating and they would drop to 16-3 on the season.
Salem will play their final home game Saturday morning at 11 against Harrisburg trying to finished the debut season at the Soccer Complex undefeated.
