Ronald Higgins, 78, of Centralia, passed away Thursday, April 29, 2021 at his home. Ronald was a member of the First Apostolic Church in Centralia. He was an avid NASCAR fan. He also enjoyed woodworking and taking care of his vegetable and flower garden.
Funeral Services for Ronald Higgins will be held Monday, May 3, 2021 at 12:00 PM at the First Apostolic Church in Centralia with Pastor Jonathon Urshan officiating. Entombment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Centralia. Visitation will be held from 11:00 PM until the time of service on Monday, May 3, 2021 at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the family and will be accepted by the Sutherland-Garnier Funeral Home at 235 North Sycamore Street in Centralia, IL 62801 (618) 532-3523, who is honored to be of service to the Higgins family. He married Diana Watts on June 9, 1998 and she survives in Centralia. In addition to his wife, Diana Higgins of Centralia, he is also survived by four children: David Higgins and wife Tammy of Centralia, Donna Higgins of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Jim Douglas and wife Karen of Louisville, Illinois, and Julie Powell and husband Van of Highland; 13 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; a brother: Dale Higgins and wife Judy of Centralia; several nieces and nephews.
He was born September 14, 1942 in Beckemeyer, Illinois, the son of Everett Higgins and Marie (Shulte) Higgins. Ronald was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter: Karen Marie Higgins, two brothers: Dennis Higgins and David Shulte, and three sisters: Doris Higgins, Barb Knight, and MaryAnn Francios.
