Well The Lady Rockets did a fantastic job pitching, hitting and playing defense to bring home a 6-4 victory over a very good Patoka team to win their Region 7 class S championship

Gabby Goostree struck out 8 and walked no one she scattered 7 hits. On the defensive side of the ball Kailey Meredith made a couple of great catches in Right field and Gwen Goostree caught a line drive and made a great play on a bunt to get the batter. Second baseman Gia Ward made a diving play to get to a ball hit up the middle and threw the runner out, she also had 4 other assists and caught a pop up in shallow right centerfield.

Offensively the Rockets were lead by Alana Howe 3-4 and scored 2 runs, Gabby Goostree was 3-3 with a pair of doubles and 2 RBIs. Gia Ward was 1-4 with an RBI. Gwen Goostree went 1-4 and scored a run. Karmen Murray was 1-3 and scored a run. Bella Bodeker pinch ran and scored a very important run.

Patoka’s Jesse Thalman tripled and scored, Charlee Murray, Claire Payne and Mabree Phelps had doubles.  Phelps allowed 8 hits and 3 earned runs with 6 strikeouts in the game.

The Lady Rockets are 23-4 on the season! They will play this Saturday at 1pm in a rubber match against Willow Grove/ St. Mary’s Coop. The game will be played at the Oasis Sports Complex in Marion.


Summersville shutout Ewing 10-0 in five innings to win their Class S regional at the Cusumano Sports Complex in Mt Vernon.  They will open up at 10am Saturday in Marion against St Johns Lutheran Red Bud in their state opener at the Oasis Sports Complex.

Fairfield Center Street beat Woodlawn 14-7 win their regional title.  They will play Dupo Saturday morning at Pinckneyville in the state tournament.
