The Salem Wildcats lost at Columbia in a Cahokia showdown of the top two teams by a final of 2-0. The game was scoreless until the final 15 minutes when the Eagles would finally score. Salem had their chances as they missed a penalty kick at the end of the first half, and put the pressure on the last 10 minutes but couldn’t get over the hump. Goalkeeper Kory Keele was great in net along with his defensive line of Alex Spencer, Avery Gullion, Carter Lowe and Payton Gullion who did a great job keeping their team in it as Columbia dominated possession in the first half with numerous shots on net. Salem falls to 11-2 overall and will host Carlyle at 4pm tomorrow. The Cats also found out that they will be moving down to 1a in soccer this season.
