The SIJHSAA baseball regionals opened up yesterday. In Region 6, The Citians knocked off Selmaville in their first round game 9-4 at the Little League Complex. The Citians scored 6 unearned runs taking advantage of 6 Rocket errors. Jacob Butts dove in 2 and Maddox Lograsso added 2 RBI in the loss. Isaac Knapp had 3 hits. Kolton Cook was the starter for Central City working 5 innings with Bo Goewey getting the final 6 outs for the save.
Patoka/Odin advanced with a 13-1 win over Sandoval. Kru Cain went 3-4 with 3 RBI and 3 runs scored including 2 doubles and a triple in setting the table at the top of the order. Dane Jolliff added a double. As the Mohawks outhit Sandoval 10-3. Patoka will play Monday at 4pm against Central City.
Iuka shutout Raccoon 8-0. Devan Jennings had 4 hits. Eli Bookhout added 2 RBI going 3-4 and Vince Krajefska scored 4 runs. John Organ struck out 11 in the loss. Iuka advances to play Monday afternoon against Rome who beat Willow Grove/St Mary 12-2 in their opening round game.
