For the first time, Patoka softball knocked off Franklin Park on Wednesday afternoon in Salem 14-1. Patoka, playing with just one 8th grader, scored 10 runs in the first inning to take command of the game. Lillian Becker led Patoka with 2 hits. Maybree Goldsboro and Jessa Thalman drove in 3 runs each. Mabree Phelps was the winning pitcher going 4 innings allowing just 1 unearned run with 6 strikeouts. Josie Gibson drove in the Salem run.
The Franklin Park baseball and softball teams will both host Teutopolis this afternoon while Patoka travels to St Elmo.
Raccoon softball beat Spring Garden 19-6. Lilly Wynn tripled and drove in 4 runs. Julianna Rushing added 2 hits and 3 RBI, Nadea Crist added 2 RBI and Mya Hanke singled home a run. Crist and Rushing combined in the circle for the win.
Selmaville lost 2-1 to really good Summersville. Alana Howe, Gia Ward and Khaeler Williams each had a hit with Williams driving in the lone run. Gabby Goostree allowed just 1 hit in the loss. Selmaville is 16-4 and will be off until Monday when they host Iuka.
South Central scored 11 times in the first inning and beat Odin 18-1 on the road. Rylan Williams homered for the Lady Falcons and drove in 2. Claire Chasteen went 2-2 with 3 RBI and 2 runs scored. SC also got RBI from Emory Burdine, Skylar Webster, Violet Skibinski, and McKenna Mette. Parrish led Odin going 2-2 with a run scored. Williams was the winning pitcher for SC allowing 2 hits and no earned runs with 10 strikeouts in 3 innings. The SC softball team hosts CHBC.
Also in softball, North Clay lost to Cumberland 20-1, Herrin 18-0 over Carbondale, Lawrenceville beat Fairfield 14-7, Sandoval lost to Lebanon 11-0, Mt Carmel 4-1 over Flora.
