A 16-year-old Patoka girl was injured in a single car crash Monday night on the Mills Cart Road near the Hoots Chapel Road intersection northwest of Salem.
Marion County Sheriff’s Deputies say the juvenile was traveling on Mills Cart Road when she ran off the road at a bridge and end upside down in the ditch. When the first deputy arrived, he opened the passenger side door and saw the driver sitting in the car.
The Salem Fire Protection District was able to pop the door open upon arrival and with assistance from United Medical Response were able to remove the girl on a backboard to an ambulance. She was then transported to the Salem Airport where an Air Evac Helicopter landed to take her to a St. Louis Hospital for treatment.
The sheriff’s department reports head trauma may have been involved.
The crash occurred at 8:03 Monday night.
