Two Salem women were hurt after they were hit by a car Friday night while crossing North Broadway near the Boone Street intersection.

Salem Police say the bicycles driven by 22-year-old Ashley Christianson and 19-year-old Delta Christianson of North Miller were struck by a car on North Broadway driven by 62-year-old Jeanette Phillips of North Adams in Kinmundy.   Police report the bicycles did not have any lights.

The two bicyclists were transported by ambulance to Salem Township Hospital.   While they were knocked off their bikes to the pavement, they were able to get up on their own before police arrived.  Salem Police say a dog with the two bicyclists escaped injury.   The driver of the car was also unhurt.

The crash occurred at 8:29 on Friday night.
