Franklin Park Bobcats suffered a tough loss at Carterville 7-1. Eli Purdy had the only Salem hit. EJ Wolfe scored the Salem run. Tanner Purintun pitched for Salem going 3.2 allowing 3 runs on 6 hits. Purdy also threw for Salem who will have their home opener today against DuQuoin at 4:15.
Ben Skibinski drove in 4 runs on 4 hits to lead South Central past Sandoval 27-8 in their season opener. The Falcons broke the game open with 9 runs on 11 hits in the 2nd inning. Kash Hall was the winning pitcher allowing 1 hit and 1 earned run over 3 innings. SC got multi-hit games from Jayden Gullion, Nate Knutt, Jordan Smith and Rubin Roberts. SC will host Cumberland this afternoon at 4:30.
Breese District 12 opened up their baseball season with a 12-5 win over All Saints Academy. Riddick Rahar had a triple, RBI and 3 runs scored in the win. Ryker Foppe drove in 2 with a triple, Jaxson Holtmann doubled home a run and scored twice and Jackson Chapman had an RBI. Jaxson Holtman was the winning pitcher allowing 1 run on 1 hit in 2 innings. Rahar and Carson Von Hatten also pitched.
Also in area junior high baseball, Nashville beat Aviston 11-1, Pinckneyville over Trico 12-7 and Summersville shutout Rome12-0.
