Geraldine “Betty” Burwell, 92, of Mount Vernon, Illinois, passed away at 8:21 pm April 23, 2021, at her residence.
A Visitation will be held Wednesday, April 28, 2021, from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at Hughey Funeral Home in Mount Vernon, Illinois. A Funeral Service will begin at 1:00 pm with Reverend Mike Ilbery officiating. Interment will follow at Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens in Woodlawn, Illinois. Memorials may be made in Betty’s honor to the charity of the donor’s choice. Please remember to observe social distancing at this time. We are limited to 50 people in our building at a time. She was born March 25, 1929, in Mount Vernon, Illinois to the late Harry and Anna (Uselton) Coberly. Betty married Ancel Burwell and he preceded her in death.
Betty is survived by her children, Harold “Butch” Burwell and wife, Glenna of Mount Vernon, Illinois, Ancel Burwell Jr. and wife, Karen of Mount Vernon, Illinois, Jerry Burwell and wife, Michelle of Mount Vernon, Illinois, Pam Clifton and husband, Scott of Mount Vernon, Illinois, Michael Burwell and wife, Amy of Cookeville, Tennessee; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
