Vincennes University opened up a 33-20 lead at halftime and never let KC get close in the 2nd half winning 73-47. Chris Wells led VU with 18 points and 9 rebounds, DJ Brewton added 17 and Justin Archer netted 11 and 8 rebounds. Shomari Tillett led KC with 19 and Chauncey Hughes added 11. VU dominated the rebounding, 35-20 and hit 55% from the floor on the night including 61% inside the arc. VU advances to Wednesday’s semifinals when they take host Shawnee.
The 7th seeded Saints led wire to wire in beating 2nd seed Olney Central 70-57 on the road. The 7-and-11 Saints got balanced scoring with 4 in double figures. AK Hazley finished with 16, including 14 in the second half, Keon Jones scored 13 while Adrian Cohen and Duke Harden scored 12 each. Elijah Farr led OCC with 17, Jordan Tchuente added 11 and JJ Kalakon finished with 10.
The other quarterfinals saw top seed and 12th ranked John A Logan pounding Lake Land 104-76, after leading only 44-34 at halftime. Sydney Curry scored 12 of his 20 after intermission to pace the 16-4 Volunteers, Cam Alford scored 19, Doug Watkins 14 and Jamarian Sharp added 12. Malachi Davis took game high honors by scoring 21 for Lake Land. The win sends the Vols up against Wabash Valley.
The Warriors hit 12 three’s including five from Darius Osborn and four by Trevon Smith in their 67-64 win over SWIC coming back from a 15 points halftime deficit. Smith finished with 19 points, Osborn 15 while Deshaun Nettles finished with 12 and 10 from JeJuan Weatherspoon. SWIC got 10 three’s in the game led by Jack Marinko who hit 5 and finished with 17, Patrick Evans also had 17 and Luke Davis scored 11.
