A Jefferson County man has been sentenced to 46 years in prison on nine counts of possession of child pornography with a victim under 13.

Judge Jerry Crisel handed down the sentence to Robert Paul.  He was also ordered to complete three years to life of mandatory supervised release on each count and was fined $45,000.

Two counts of criminal sexual assault to a family member under 18 were procedurally severed from the original plea and are pending trial at a later date.

The investigation began in July of 2023 based on a cyber tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.   A search of electronic records and Paul’s home was completed as part of a search warrant executed on his home and electronic devices.

Assistant Jefferson County State’s Attorney’s Brian Merrell and Blake Jennings handled the case.
