The GLVC Pitcher of the Week his week was Salem grad and Quincy left-hander Riley Martin. He currently leads the conference and is 8th in the NCAA with 55 strikeouts and holds a 4-1 record through 31 innings.
Four times in five starts Martin has gone at least 7 innings, while allowing 2 or fewer runs with 11 or more strikeouts. Martin’s four wins on the mound are also tied for most in the GLVC as well.
Martin is 3 wins shy from breaking the all time wins record at Quincy. He broke the all time strikeout record a few weeks ago with, breaking a record held by former Hawks great Josh Kinney, who won a world series with the St Louis Cardinals in 2006.
Martins increased velocity has led to more strikeouts this season, as the left hander is posting 15.97 k’s per 9 innings which is tops in the conference and 9th in the country.
