The South Central High School Board of Education this week hired their 6th head boy’s basketball coach in the program’s history. He is Landon Zurliene from Fairfield.
Landon is a senior at McKendree University where he played basketball and is completing his student teaching in Belleville and majored in Physical Education. He also was a member of the SI Bears AAU Organization for 7 years based out of Carterville.
He will become one of, if not the youngest coach in the area and has also been hired to be the South Central Middle School Athletic Director as well as high school PE Teacher. He takes over for Blake Doehring.
Zurliene says his plans are to hit the ground running, and will probably put together a youth basketball camp this summer, as well as the summer contact days that they will get with the high school players.
