Breese Central’s Conlan Haar got a steal of Sam Donald and a layup as time expired to lift the Cougars to a 57-55 double overtime win over Columbia at Carlyle. The Cougars were without leading scorers Kaden Rakers or Griffen Becker in the 2nd overtime after they fouled out. But Bryce Wieter hit a 3 to get them even at 55 with under a minute to go. Central advances to the Carterville Sectional to face Benton after their win over Carterville at Hamilton County 56-49.
#2 Althoff got out to a very fast start and kept that intensity the entire game as they knocked off #1 ranked Pinckneyville to win the Chester Regional 74-56. Althoff will play Vienna next week also at Carterville.
Fairfield missed a would be tying free throw with 3.9 seconds left and they lost to TTown at Fairfield 50-49. Drew Hoene had 11 for the shoes, Justice Dagg finished with 18 for the Mules.
Also in 2a last night, Vienna beat Massac County 40-35 at Anna, Auburn won at Greenville over the hosts 56-43, Paris lost at home to visiting Lawrenceville 57-41 and Staunton at home beat Piasa 50-32.
