The IHSA girls regionals continued last night with regional championships.
In 1a, Brownstown/St Elmo won the South Central regional in Farina beating Father McGivney 46-27. Okawville beat Sandoval 52-27 at Dupo, Edwards County at home knocked off Woodlawn 53-32 and at Neoga it was St Anthony advancing by beating Altamont 55-30. Tonight in 1a title games, Sesser Valier takes on the hosts at Marissa.
In 2a, Breese Central improved to 29-2 with their 57-26 win over Mater Dei. Nashville won the Greenville title beating Carlyle 58-28, Carlinville won at home over Hillsboro 45-40, Harrisburg beat West Frankfort at DuQuoin 55-44, Mt Carmel over Carmi 43-21 at Hamilton County, Vienna won at home over Johnston City 48-40. Tonight, Staunton takes on Marquette at Gillespie and at Palestine it’s TTown taking on Newton.
In the 3a Mt Vernon regional semifinal, the Lady Rams eliminated East St Louis 69-37 and Carbondale 52-30 over Mascoutah. The two will play tonight for the championship. Effingham won the Triad championship beating the hosts 50-38. Tonight in 3a, Mt Zion takes on MacArthur at Eisenhower, Marion and Freeburg play at Herrin while Rochester takes on the hosts at Taylorville.
In 4a regional title games last night at Belleville East, the hosts lost to O’Fallon 63-60. Tonight at Granite City, Alton takes on Quincy.
