A 40-year-old Odin man has been formally charged in Marion County Court with armed robbery and possession of a weapon by a felon.
Lloyd McMullin of North Everette is accused of pulling a gun and demanding money from a man who was test-driving a car he planned to buy from McMullin. The incident occurred on the West Boone Street Extension.
Marion County Sheriff Kevin Cripps says during the incident the man taking the test drive turned over $2,000 to McMullin. When another car approached, the alleged victim refused to get back into the car and flagged down the approaching motorist for help.
McMullin left the area at that time but was later located by deputies at his home. They were allowed to search the residence by his girlfriend and allegedly recovered the money.
McMullin was taken to the Marion County Jail. He is expected to appear in court Tuesday afternoon. The State’s Attorney’s office has filed a petition to hold McMullin without bond.
