An electrical fire caused heavy damage to a Centralia home late Friday afternoon.
The fire was at a home rented by Ivan Lawson at 614 Rhodes Street. He had notified the landlord Darrell Jones when the home lost half its power. Jones worked on the electrical box. When he returned a short time later he saw smoke coming from the roof of the home.
Upon arrival, Centralia City Firemen found flames in the attic. They had to cut a hole in the roof to reach the fire. The ceilings in two of the bedrooms also had to be removed.
Firemen report substantial damage in the attic space and the two bedrooms received heavy smoke, heat and water damage. The rest of the home sustained smoke and heat damage.
The Red Cross was called to assist Lawson.
All available Centralia city firemen along with the Centralia Fire Protection District were called for mutual aid assistance. Sandoval Firemen stood by at the Centralia Fire Station in the event of another fire.
There were no injuries.
The fire call came in at 3:02 Friday afternoon and remained on the scene until 4:47 pm.
