Salem Firemen say a 20-pound propane cylinder was buried in snow by a passerby after it reportedly exploded after a line to a heater burned.
The incident occurred outside the George Sloat home at 521 South Pearl Thursday night. Firemen say they were informed upon arrival the fire had been extinguished when buried in the snow. They dug it out of the snow and shut off a valve to the cylinder to stop any further leakage.
Fire officials say the cylinder was away from the home and there was no damage to the home and no injuries.
