The Salem Wildcats dropped to 1-5 on the season with a home loss to Breese Central 58-47. The Cats offense outscored the Cougars 21-16 in the fourth quarter cutting into their double-digit deficit for most of the game. Salem was led by Ryegan Warren with 10, 9 each from Kaeden Bevolo and Payton Gullion, Miking Ettress added 8 and Noah Nix 7. Salem is back in action next Friday when they travel to Columbia.
The Salem JV jumped out to a 13-4 lead but the shots stopped falling as Breese Central won 55-37. Salem was led by Avery Gullion with 15, Eli Baker added 7 with 6 each from Landen Maxey and Madden Thompson.
Centralia dropped their home opener, falling to Belleville Althoff 61-58. Bryden Gryzmala led the Crusaders with 20 points, Zack Winkeler added 19 and Dierre Hill Jr went for 15.
