The Wamac City Council is considering two new ordinance violations that would help improvement the look of the community.

Mayor Butch Mathus says the first would make it an ordinance violation to have a derelict vehicle on your property.  It would target non operational and non licensed vehicle.  The second would require residents to remove their trash recepticles from along the street by Thursday after the weekly Wednesday trash pickup.

The board tabled action on allowing a cell tower in the Wamac Park.  The company would pay the city $150,480 for use of the land.  Mathus says the board wanted to look further at legalities of such an arrangement.

The board approved its annual tax levy.  The $140,899 levy is just under five percent higher than last year’s levy.

The city is looking for a new auditor after their current auditor has announced their retirement.

The board approved a $100 Christmas bonus for all employees.
