The Illinois Department of Public Health is reporting 53 additional COVID-19 related deaths on Saturday. Two of those were in South Central Illinois. A female in her 60s in Jefferson County and a female in her 90s from Wayne County are among those who passed away. Three more deaths were reported in St. Clair County and two in Madison County.
There were a total of 2,092 new cases of coronavirus disease. The seven-day statewide positivity rate fell below three percent to 2.9-percent. The positivity rate in the Southern Illinois Region fell to 3.4-percent. Marion County’s positivity rate remains at 1.1.-percent. The Metro East Region positivity has dropped two-tenths of a percent to 5.4-percent. The East Central Illinois Region is at 3.9-percent.
Another 79,704 received their vaccination from COVID-19. 1,724,187 vaccines have now been administered, with a daily average of 61,384 doses for the past seven days.
The number hospitalized from COVID-19 related causes has fallen below 2,000. There were 1,892 in the hospital as of Friday night. 425 were in the ICU and 202 were on ventilators.
