The Salem Wildcats soccer team finished off their historic season with Awards Night tonight at SCHS.
The finished the year with a school record 18 wins (18-3-1). They won a tournament for the first time in program history (Greenville Tournament) and also got wins for the first time over Murphysboro, Breese Central, Freeburg, Newton and Mattoon.
They will say goodbye to 3 seniors. Keaton Gullion, Oliver Morton and Parker Findley. Gullion was a 4-year starter and 3-year captain and an All Conference defender last year.
The individual awards went to Carter Lowe (Newcomer of the Year), Eli Baker (MVP), Oliver Morton (Defensive MVP), Keaton Gullion (Leadership Award), Holden Richardson (Most Improved) and Caleb Purintun (Hustle Award).
Baker also still leads the nation in goals scored and points with several teams still playing in their respective state tournaments.
All Conference honors this year went to Morton, Purintun, Richardson and Baker.
The JV Awards went to (MVP Offense), Kaid Davis (Defensive MVP), Riley Tate (Newcomer of the Year), Austin Woolridge (Leadership Award). Kolton Jackson ,not pictured (Hustle Award).
