The Salem Lady Wildcats dominated their season opener at the DuQuoin Tournament with a record breaking 77-7 win over Murphysboro.
The 70-point margin of victory is a record for either boys or girls basketball at SCHS.
The defending tournament champs ran out of the gate to a 26-3 lead after the opening quarter and led 44-5 at the halftime break.
Salem put 5 in double figures led by Jordan Kessler with 14. Lauren Burge hit 3 three pointers on her way to 13 and Emma Gregg also added 13. Marah Johnson finished with 12 and Addison Lever added 10.
Salem returns to action on Wednesday night when they take on Christopher at 6pm.
Sandoval beat Ramsey 41-15. Amiya Ray led the Lady Hawks with 24, Harlie Harper added 10.
Breese Central knocked off Hillsboro 65-22, Effingham over Robinson 58-33, Olney over Champaign Central 48-43, Roxana nipped Dupo 24-15, and TTown over Terre Haute South 65-11, Mascoutah 69-13 over Cahokia.
