SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital in Centralia has been awarded an “A” in the 2020 Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade.

The national distinction by the independent watchdog organization recognizes the hospital’s achievements in protecting patients from harm and providing safe health care.

It is based on a hospital’s performance in preventing medical errors, injuries, accidents, infections and other harms to patients in their care.

The President of SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital Damon Harbison says on behalf of everyone at SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital, it is an honor to be recognized with an ‘A’ rating for patient safety. He says in a year where we have been challenged like never before, they remain committed to the delivery of exceptional patient care.

The President and CEO of the Leapfrog Group Leah Binder says the ‘A’ is a testament to the care and commitment of those who work for SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital in Centralia. She notes with the current pandemic exposing existing flaws within the U.S. health care system, they appreciate the hospital putting patient safety first.
