The 1a Sectionals were run at Benton. The top 7 boys teams that advanced to state were Murphysboro, Pinckneyville, Benton, Roxana, Metro East Lutheran, Father McGivney, Mater Dei. Christ Our Rock finished 11th as a team, but Carson Pigg advanced as an individual.
On the girls side, the teams that advanced were Anna Jonesboro, Father McGivney, Murphysboro, Pinckneyville, Mater Dei, Althoff and Okawville. Individually, Christ Our Rock’s Rylee Brammeier advanced.
The 2a race was at Olney. The top 7 boys teams advancing to state were Highland, Mahomet Seymour, Marion, Mt Vernon, Chatham Glenwood, Civic Memorial and Herrin. Not advancing individually were Salem’s Caiden Beer (70th) and Robby Shober (86th).
On the girls side advancing were Chatham Glenwood, Rochester, Carterville, Mahomet Seymour, Waterloo, Centennial and Mascoutah. Mount Vernon (14) and Centralia (16) missed the cut. Salem’s Kendall Zimmerman’s season came to an end finishing 52nd.
