ABATE takes Harley Queen Trophy in 97th Annual Centralia Halloween Parade

The ABATE organization won the Harley Queen Trophy in the 97th Annual Halloween Parade.  Their entry was Halloween in the French Quarter.

Grand Marshall Herb Williams selected the float entered by the Alternative Learning Academy entitled ‘ALA World Tour-Journey for Harmony’ for his award.

The new George Borum award was given to the Timmons family for their entry ‘Monsters Around the World’.  It also won for first in the family division.

Other winners included the Clark Academy 1st in School for their float ‘Homecoming’.  Sandoval FFA was second ‘mmm Pizza’.   In the Civic Division, Centralia Girl Scouts too first with their entry ‘Dia De Los Muertos’ and the Centralia Fire Department Firefighters Union received second for ‘Haunted House Fire’.  The Stover, Harting and Resch families took second in the family division with ‘Toy Story Land’.   Flatlanders General Store won first in the Commercial division with their Christmas themed float ‘Santa Clause is coming to town’ featuring Santa Claus.  Carlyle Health Care took second.  In the church category, Calumet Street Christian Church was first ‘ with ‘Werewolves in London’ and St. John’s Episcopal and Redeemer Lutheran Church took second with their entry ‘Things are looking up at St. John’s and Redeemer.’

In the band completion, Carlyle took first place and also won outstanding auxiliary.  Mt. Vernon High-Casey Junior High took second place and also won outstanding drum line and outstanding drum major.  In the grade school competition, Iuka Grade took first and also won outstanding drum major.  Franklin Park took second and also won outstanding auxiliary and outstanding drum line.
