David C. Birke, 60, of Mount Vernon, Illinois, passed away at 10:15 AM, January 28, 2021, at his residence. David worked several years at Crossroads Community Hospital and later in the floral department at Kroger in Mount Vernon. David was loved and will be missed by all who knew him.
A Visitation will be held Sunday, February 7, 2021, from12:00 pm to 1:00 pm at Hughey Funeral Home in Mount Vernon, Illinois. A Memorial Service will begin at 1:00 pm with Mark Hutson officiating. Please remember to observe social distancing at this time. We are limited to 50 people in our building at a time. Following the CDC and NFDA regulations, we encourage everyone to wear a mask. David is survived by his daughter, Shannon Birke and husband, Ian Craig of Saint Louis, Missouri; brother, Darren Birke of Phoenix, Arizona; and sister, Debbie Birke of Orlando, Florida.
He was born November 23, 1960, in Red Bud, Illinois to the late Norbert and Violet (Polacek) Birke. In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by his sister, Melissa Birke.
