The Salem Wildcats dropped their final road trip of the season, losing at Columbia 38-8.  In the loss, Salem senior Miking Ettress had a career game catching 8 balls for 193 yards including a 74 yard catch and run for a score in the 3rd quarter that made it a 2 score game.  That would be most of Salem’s offense as they only rushed for 57 yards.  Kaeden Bevolo finished the night 13-of-24 for 237 yards and that one score.  For the Eagles, quarterback Mason Voegele was impressive on both sides of the ball, as he was 11-of-15 throwing the ball for 111 yards and he also had a pair of interceptions on defense.  Jase Nelson and Logan Hicks combined to rush for 310 yards; with Nelson going for 158 and 3 touchdowns, Hicks 152 yards and a 66 yard score.  Voegele even added 46 yards on the ground as the Eagles rushed for nearly 400 yards.  Salem returns home for the final two weeks as they will honor 100 years of Wildcats football next Friday against Freeburg before hosting Charleston in Week 9 for Senior Night.

Breese Central improved to 7-0 for the first time in school history as the #1 ranked Cougars beat Roxana 35-6.  Freeburg knocked off East Alton Wood River 40-16 as the Midgets will head to Jim Finks Field next week.
