The SIJHSAA state baseball and softball tournaments open up today

Both Franklin Park teams will play in their respective Class L Tournaments at Rotary Park in Centralia.

The Bobcats will open at 1pm against Belleville Whiteside.  The winner will advance to the Final Four on Tuesday when they get either Carterville or Waterloo who play at noon.  DuQuoin and Benton open the day at 10 followed at 11 a.m. with Marion and Flora.

The softball tournament will see Salem playing Wolf Branch at 11 a.m. in the 2nd game of the day.  The winner plays the 10am winner between Carterville and Waterloo.  Sparta Lincoln and Hamilton County play at noon with Marion and Carmi first pitch set for 1.

In the Class S tournaments held at Coulterville City Park.  The softball tournament will see Carrier Mills taking on St John Red Bud at 9:30 followed by Albers/Damiansville and New Hope at 11:30, Pinckneyville takes on powerhouse Waltonville at 1:30 followed by Willow Grove/St Mary and Century at 3:30.

The baseball tournament will see Altamont Lutheran and OLMC play at 9:30 followed by Summersville and Century at 11:30, Galatia plays St John Red Bud at 1:30 and Cisne and Valmeyer finish the day at 3:30.

In the Class M tournaments at the Perry County Fairgrounds in Pinckneyville.  The softball tournament will see Pinckneyville and Aviston at 9:30, Smithton and Nashville at 11:30, Goreville and Crab Orchard at 1:30 and at 3:30 it’s Christopher and Fairfield.

In the baseball tournament, Goreville and Pinckneyville play at 9:30, NCOE and Albion at 11:30, Smithton and Aviston at 1:30 and Maryville and Nashville will play at 3:30.
