Larry Stoafer, 77, of Peoria, passed away Friday, January 22, 2021 at his home. Larry served in the U.S. Army. He was a 35 year member of the Fraternal Lodge of the Eagles # 265 in Peoria. Larry enjoyed fishing, hunting, and camping. One of his favorite places to visit was the Wisconsin Dells. He also enjoyed working on cars, racing cars and watching NASCAR. He enjoyed working with horses and watching old Westerns. Most of all, he loved the time he was able to spend with his grandkids, family and friends.
Funeral Services for Larry Stoafer will be held Saturday, January 30, 2021 at 2:00 PM at the Sutherland-Garnier Funeral Home in Centralia, Illinois with burial to follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Centralia. Military Honors will be accorded at the gravesite by the American Legion Post 446 and V.F.W. Post 2055. A Visitation will be held Saturday afternoon from 1:00 PM until the time of the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Fraternal Lodge of the Eagles #265 in Peoria and will be accepted at the Sutherland-Garnier Funeral Home and Cremation Services at 235 North Sycamore Street Centralia, Illinois 62801, (618)532-3523, who is honored to be of service to the Stoafer Family. Larry is survived by his three children: Dawn Workman and husband Grant of Olathe, Kansas, Shane Stoafer of Kansas, and Larry Stoafer and fiancé Nora of Tennessee; two step children: Shelly Price and husband Jerry of San Jose, Illinois and Dana Koenig and wife Karen of Springfield, Illinois; eight grandchildren: Jarrod Workman, Ryan Workman, Braylen Workman all of Olathe, Kansas, D.J. Stoafer of Peoria, Illinois, Cory Scheuttler of Bellview, Illinois, Renee Williams of Ohio, Nick Koenig of Springfield, Illinois, and Bobby Hoskins, III of Peoria, Illinois; a daughter-in-law: Tricia Gathard of Peoria, Illinois; and friend: Linda Stoafer Anderson of Kansas.
He was born January 31, 1943 in Centralia, the son of Ralph Stoafer and Dortha (Snyder) Stoafer. He married Linda Hopper in 1966 and they later divorced. He was preceded in death by his parents: Ralph and Dortha Stoafer, granddaughter: Destiny Linn Workman, fiance: Delores Williams, and several aunts and uncles.
