A 38-year-old Mt. Vernon man has been sentenced to 75 years in prison for charges related to the shooting of three people in the 1100 block of Lamar Avenue in October 2024.

Timothy Boyd was found guilty in December 2024 following a four-day Jefferson County jury trial for attempted murder and aggravated battery with a firearm.  Procedural matters delayed the sentencing hearing.

Judge Jerry Crisel sentenced Boyd to 50 years for attempted first-degree murder. The sentence will run consecutively to 25 years in prison for aggravated battery with a firearm.  State law requires Boyd to serve 85 percent of the prison term.

All three of those shot on October 12th were transferred to St. Louis Hospitals for treatment of serious injuries.  After identifying Boyd as the suspect in the case, a search began that ended five days later with his arrest at a Carlyle motel.

A hearing to reconsider the sentence has been set for June 18th.

Assistant State’s Attorney Blake Jennings handled the sentencing hearing.  Jennings prosecuted the case along with former State’s Attorney Sean Featherstun.

A person with Boyd at the time of his arrest, 39-year-old Myleika Whitelow, still has a charge of aiding/concealing a fugitive pending against her.  A plea agreement is set for May 19th.
