Lady Wildcats 2nd By A Shot At St Anthony Regional, Next Up…Sectionals

The Salem Lady Wildcats have had an amazing golf season.  After finishing the dual season undefeated, Salem traveled to Effingham for the St Anthony 1a Regional on Tuesday.  The Lady Cats advanced with their 2nd place finish, just one shot back of first place St Anthony 358-359 with Effingham 3rd with a 363.

Not advancing were Vandalia who was 5th, Olney 8th, Altamont 11th and Sandoval 12th.

Mya Russell finished 4th individually and Reagan Shuler and Jaryn Haarmann tied for 7th.  Salem advances to the Effingham Sectional trying to advance to State as a team.   Russell shot 84, Haarmann 88 along with Shuler, Brenna Hays and Kiley Vieira added 99s and Kylie Johnson a 106.

Kennedy Jones of North Clay also advanced as an individual with her 98 and Abby Tate of Vandalia shot 103 to move on.

For Sandoval, Madison Starr shot 124, Bella Pearce 150 and Anabelle Garrett 159.

At Mt Carmel, the host Aces shot 293 to advance along with Massac County (352) and Carmi (402).  Emily Gottman of Mt Carmel shot 68 for medalist honors.

At Gibault, Father McGivney won the event shooting 338 and moves on along with Breese Central (346) and Carlyle (354).  Mater Dei missed the cut by 3 strokes with Columbia 5th, Freeburg 11 and Roxana 12.  McGivney’s Sarah Hyten shot 68 to win medalist.

At Zeigler, Nashville shot 341 and won the team title moving on along with Red Bud (365) and Trico (367).
