Salem Select had a strong showing at the Rantoul Fall Cup! After a loss to state ranked (5th in the state) Mahomet Ignite in the opening round, the girls came back to win games against Morton, and Oak Park (OPRF Alliance). Braelyn Holzhausen, Laney Kuhns, Addy Nix and Stevie Nix all had goals this weekend. Graci Green worked hard and had several great passes in attempt to assist. Brooklyn Anderson had some strong shots on goal and was “on her horse” full speed all three games. Briah Henseler hustled and worked hard to win any free ball at mid and forward.

Sophia Decker, quite possibly the most intense midfielder in the whole state, dominated both offensively and defensively. Her super human strength throw-ins led to multiple scoring opportunities

Gabby Gaston and Posie Cooney also at mid, contributed in big ways, helping to control the field.

Defensively, Salem Select brought their “A-game”. Paisley Stanford had a strong performance shutting down goal opportunities from opponents as well as contributing a couple of assists.

Ellie Barnfield, Brenna Lowry, Baylie Purcell, and Piper Stanford had the stressful task of holding down the back line against some tough opponents with a lot of speed in very strong winds. Those girls worked HARD!

Last but not least, Lexi DeForest was in the goal the entire weekend and had a clean sheet in game two and only allowed one goal in game three.
