Jim E. Beal, 90, of Mount Vernon, Illinois, passed away at 6:45 pm on January 16, 2021, at his residence in Mount Vernon, Illinois.

Mr. Beal proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict as military police. He was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church. Jim worked as a mechanic at Brehm-Hanna Chevrolet and later as a partner in J H repair. He loved to quail hunt and most of all he loved his family. Jim was a loving husband, father, and grandfather and will be dearly missed.

A Graveside Service will be held Wednesday, January 20, 2021, at 11:00 am at East Salem Baptist Church in Mount Vernon, Illinois with Reverend Randy Hayes officiating. Interment will follow. Memorials may be made in Jim’s honor to East Salem Cemetery. Please remember to observe social distancing at this time. We are limited to 25 people in the tent at one time. He was born August 11, 1930, in Mount Vernon, Illinois to the late Alva Jake and Bessie (Whitson) Beal. Jim married Norma Jean (Mulvaney) Beal on January 14, 1949.

In addition to his loving wife of seventy-two years, Jim is survived by his daughter, Tricia Wagner and husband, David of Mount Vernon, Illinois; son, James Beal and companion, Carol of Benson, Arizona; grandchildren, Sarah Pugh and husband, Charles of O’Fallon, Illinois, Gina Sanchez of Phoenix, Arizona, Ceceilia Sanchez of Oracle, Arizona; sister, Lillie Arnett; sister-in-law, Marie Bond and husband, Ed of Dix, Illinois; brother-in-law, Richard Mulvaney and wife, Kristie of Evansville, Indiana; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his brothers, Mort, Thel, Bob, George, John, Thurston, Oscar, and Fred Beal; sisters, Mary Champ, Bessie Elliott, and Maud Chandler; and brothers-in-law, Irvin Jack Mulvaney and Leroy Mulvaney.
